My favorite engagements and outdoor weddings in Minneapolis!
2015 in Review...
I was getting really frustrated yesterday - I was sitting here at my desk, sipping some green tea and munching on popcorn (a weird but delightfully-satisfying afternoon snack), scrolling through my folders of photography shoots, sessions, and weddings from this year. I was looking for one particular picture, but couldn't remember which wedding it was from. I started getting antsy that it was taking me so long to search it out amidst all the other tens of thousands of pictures that I took last year.
And then, I realized something lovely: all of those pictures were there because I photographed more weddings in 2015 than I ever have before!
This month of January (it's still hard for me to believe that we're a few weeks into 2016 now!) marks the one-year point since I began doing wedding photography full-time. While I've been photographing weddings for about nine years, I am so proud to finally be following my dreams to turn this passion into my career. It fills me with unbelievable joy to be entering into my second year as a full-time photographer.
The past year has been full of encouraging learning opportunities (like finding amazing photography mentors and enrolling in business and marketing classes) and terrifying learning-how-to-run-a-business moments (doing accounting, and taxes, and accounting...). But mostly, it's been full of people who have invited me into their lives at joyous and emotional and beautiful moments and given me the honor of creating art for them.
So after I found that particular picture that I'd been hunting for, I took a few minutes to be a sap and look back on 2015. I've decided to share some of my favorite images from the year with you! Without further ado, let me present some of my favorite engagement and outdoor weddings from the past year...
This happy-in-the-sun portrait of Kelsey and Brandon is one of my absolute favorites from the outdoor weddings in Minneapolis that I've shot this year! This was right after their first look - they were so full of energy and so happy to be together, and the sun lighting up the field behind them reflected that so well.
Even for couples who have indoor receptions, I love being able to duck outside (at the end of the dinner hour or just around sunset) for some calm, happy outdoor portraits. At Kelsey and Brandon's wedding in Shakopee, MN, their reception was held at an atmospheric vintage-styled bar. When we went outside for a few portraits before their first dance, these two were so happy and relaxed - absolute perfection.
This portrait of the bride and groom is so full of love and joy! I took this while second shooting with Michelle Huber Photography at a wedding at Aria Minneapolis.
I love working with couples who are planning outdoor weddings in Minneapolis and St. Paul to help them sketch their wedding-day timeline with photography in mind. With Jenna and Aaron's wedding from this past September, we had built in plenty of time for portraits so we were able to relax and capture some individual bridal portraits as well. I love how serene and stunning Jenna is in this portrait!
Thank you so much for reminiscing through 2015 with me!
I'm so excited to now be booking engagement sessions and weddings for 2016 and 2017. If you happen to be looking for a wedding photographer, I'd love to connect to see if we're a good fit for each other! You can check out my wedding portfolio right here!
