Alex and Jessica’s happy & romantic elopement on Halloween

Alex and Jessica got married on Halloween last year, so I’m thrilled to share their portraits today as they celebrate their 1-yr anniversary! While Alex and Jessica knew they wanted to plan a full wedding gathering some time in the future with all of their people, they decided to elope because they felt ready to be married. With days to go until their planned elopement, they were in search of a photographer who would capture their elopement and help them celebrate this special day. They reached out to me, and as luck would have it I had last minute availability, so I said yes!

The week of their elopement, Alex and Jessica spent time picking out wedding outfits with each other. Each of them found outfits that made them feel happy and true to themselves. Partly because it was Halloween, and partly because they imagined their future wedding having a magical, fairytale vibe, they incorporated some whimsical pieces into their wardrobe, which added a fun, magical energy to the elopement day.

The elopement day

I met Alex and Jessica at Theodore Roosevelt Park to capture some individual and couple portraits before they got married. Walking through the trails together, with the gorgeous fall leaves as their backdrop, Alex and Jessica looked so happy and at ease. This time at the park created a lovely moment of quietude for them to connect and feel centered before getting married.

Elopement at the Minneapolis Government Center

We then headed to the Minneapolis Government Center for their elopement. While waiting for their appointment time, I captured some photographs of them inside the building with its incredible architectural elements. Knowing in mere minutes they would be married, Alex and Jessica exude so much joy, excitement, and affection in these portraits.

Once the Judge and witnesses arrived, the elopement began. Alex and Jessica set up a computer for their loved ones to watch them get married virtually. Alex and Jessica exchanged the most heartfelt vows, bringing sweet tears to all of our eyes. These tears quickly transformed into joyous cheers as the judge pronounced their marriage! Alex and Jessica had the biggest smiles as they received happy congratulations from their loved ones present virtually.

After their elopement, I took a few more portraits of them near the fountain by the entrance of the Government Center. In these portraits, Alex and Jessica look nothing short of elated to be married to each other. Alex and Jessica- I wish you the happiest one year anniversary!
