Let’s talk about wedding photography

What are you looking for in a wedding photographer?

Maybe you and your partner are skipping the traditional wedding checklists and planning a wedding that feels aligned with the values of your relationship. You’re looking for a photographer who will listen deeply, and reflect your priorities and values in your wedding pictures.

Maybe you’re part of the LGBTQ+ world, and you know it’s necessary to find an affirming photographer who has extensive experience with the queer community.

Maybe you’ve seen a lot of really cheesy heteronormative wedding photos, and you know that doesn’t fit your life and values. You might be looking for a photographer who will avoid awkward gendered poses, and will get to know your honest relationship dynamic, and capture that authentically in photos.

“We could not recommend anyone more highly than Alyssa. I honestly would have paid 10x the price just to work with her.

She and Tyler are such caring and compassionate folks and made us feel so calm on our big day and in front of the camera.”

- Cat + Aubrey

Hi - I’m Alyssa!

I’m an optimist, feminist, and a Minnesota wedding photographer — and I’m super glad that you’re here!! I live in a historic house in South Minneapolis with my partner Tyler and our rescue pup Luna.

Three things to know about me:

1) I’m a big ole extrovert and love intentional community

2) I wear my heart on my sleeve and am a big feeler. Yes, I will probably cry at your wedding (but it won’t stop me from getting great photos!)

3) I have a deep connection to nature — I equally love a casual neighborhood walk and an epic national park hike

If we’re meeting for the first time

here’s what you should know about my wedding photography:

My style: emotional storytelling

My wedding photography is an intentional mix of storytelling candids brimming with emotion, alongside low-pressure portraits that feel authentic to you.

What sets me apart: Printed wedding art

I’m deeply passionate about creating tangible, printed art with your wedding images, and I include a printed wedding album in all of my packages.

My Approach: Inclusive + affirming

I’m a body-positive feminist, and work to create a safe celebratory space for every couple I work with. I’m also part of the LGBTQ+ community and love photographing queer weddings!

I make a promise to every couple I work with:

I want you (and your community) to feel not only welcomed by me, but to feel seen and affirmed and deeply celebrated.

This means that I’m not going to force you into gendered poses for portraits, and I’m not going to assume you’re following a checklist of traditional wedding ideals. But I will get to know you both (super well!) as individuals and as partners. I will ask about the pronouns and accessibility concerns for your VIP friends/family.

I’ll show up throughout your wedding day, ready to center your experience and capture the magic and story and emotions that unfold.

“Quit trying to find a photographer because you have found the best one right here!

So talented, creative, thoughtful and kind. Rest easy — you will have a treasure trove of photos to remember your special day. ”

- Megan

There are so many wedding photographers to choose from, so what might make me right for you?

  • Your partnership is built on inclusive values and you want a feminist, body-positive photographer that’s 100% on-board with challenging gender roles and standing for equal rights!

  • You’re planning a wedding that focuses on the moments, emotions, and people that are really important to you - you’re not trying to do it all.

  • You’re maybe a little nervous about being photographed and you’d like a photographer that’s really great at helping you feel natural and relaxed in front of the camera.

  • You’d love someone to be really helpful with all the decisions you have to make during your wedding journey. Everything from what to wear in your engagement photos to creating a relaxed wedding day timeline, to how you want to capture your feelings, emotions and communities on your wedding day.

  • You love the idea of holding your wedding photographs in your hands, and get excited about creating tangible art to remember this season of your life.

  • You love the Minneapolis Farmers Market, keep your radio tuned to MPR, or want a suggestion for my favorite state park hikes. :)

Wedding photography process: how it works

  • If you resonate with my work, you can download my wedding photography info & pricing guide to learn more about my approach and explore some pricing information. If that aligns with what you’re looking for, please reach out!

You can use my contact form or email me directly at info@alyssalundphotography.com. Please include the date and location of your wedding, and I always love it if you can share a little bit about the two of you, or your wedding plans, or what you’re looking for in a photographer.

  • I’ll invite you two over to my studio (or we can meet virtually on zoom) and we’ll have a conversation to get to know each other and see if we might be a good fit to work together. I’ll be excited to learn about your relationship story, your wedding plans, what you’re looking for in a photographer. I’ll also come to the meeting with a lot of examples of my work, as well as my full range of pricing/package options.

Together we’ll explore what it would look like to work together, and customize a wedding photography package that fits your needs and values (from hours of photography time, a second photographer, engagement session, printed album and wall art options… there’s a lot of elements to your wedding photography package that we can customize to put together a perfect package for you).

  • If we decide that we’re a good fit, we’ll move forward and get you officially booked. I’ll email along some booking paperwork - I take a 50% deposit to hold your wedding date, and you’ll sign a pretty standard contract (I’m always happy to chat through the details if you have any questions, but it’s pretty boring and legal-y). Once that paperwork is taken care of, we’re officially booked!

  • If you decide to do an engagement session, we’ll begin by chatting about what you both want to document and remember about this chapter of life, and we’ll plan the logistics/details/mood/vibe of your session together.

There’s usually about 70 final images from an engagement session, and I’ll show them to you both a few weeks after your photoshoot! It’s so fun to relive the session, and it also gives us a great chance to talk about what kind of pictures resonate with you both the most - I take notes on your favorites so I can make your wedding pictures even more tailored to you.

  • Throughout your wedding-planning process, I’m always here as a resource if it’s helpful! From sharing LGBTQ+ affirming wedding vendor recommendations, to sketching out a wedding day timeline, to working directly with your wedding planner or day-of coordinator, I’m here to help in any way that I can.

  • About a month before your wedding, we’ll meet up to review your wedding photography timeline, discuss your photography requests, and talk through some final logistical details.

I’ll send you an email ahead of time with suggestions about what to prepare for this meeting too :)

  • Yay, it’s here!! I’ll arrive (along with my second photographer, if you’ve opted for both of us!) and we’ll dive into taking pictures as we planned. You won’t need to stress a bit – I’ll have our timeline and photo lists with me, and I have an excellent track record for staying exactly on time. Even if there’s a delay with some other part of your day, I’m practiced at navigating backup plans while letting you stay out of it.

Overall, I’ll handle all the photography – you get to be present, experience the day, and soak it all in.

  • We’ll meet up back at my studio (or on zoom) for the reveal of your wedding pictures – and it’s so exciting!! You can sip some tea or champagne, and I’ll show you two a slideshow with all of your final wedding pictures. It’s always so exciting and emotional to get to relive your day <3

We’ll also plan out your wedding album together – I’ll come to our meeting with a design prepared for you, and together we’ll make any tweaks you’d like so we can finalize everything. You’ll be able to leave with your digital images in hand!

  • Your wedding album will arrive a month or two after your wedding reveal, and it is the culmination of our intentional process together - you’ll be able to open the pages and relive the moments and details and emotions from throughout your wedding day.

Sending your album home with you is truly one of the most amazing parts of my job.
