Jen, Eric, Theodora, and baby Esther’s calm and cozy family portraits at home

I’ve had the joy of working with Jen and Eric for many years now, photographing their engagement in 2016 and wedding back in 2017, early milestone anniversaries, and the expansion of their family as they welcomed their daughter Theodora into the world a couple years ago, so I was thrilled to work with them again and their newborn daughter Esther. One of the greatest joys of working with returning clients is the deep sense of understanding we build. During our initial planning call for Esther’s newborn session, Jen shared how amidst all the busyness of having a toddler and preparing for a newborn, it felt so relieving to hand over the photoshoot preparation to me and have complete trust that I would know which style of portraits and moments they most wanted to capture, having learned their vision and preferences over the years. Receiving that level of trust means so much to me, and I was delighted to help Jen and Eric document another monumental moment in their lives!

Jen and Eric decided on a portrait-focused structure for their lifestyle and newborn session, with an emphasis on capturing lovely, emotion-filled, and natural-feeling images of Jen, Eric, Theodora, and baby Esther in their home. We also wove in a few candid, storytelling moments to capture the everyday rhythms of life with a toddler and a newborn – including reading books, snuggling on the couch, and watching Theodora hold her baby sister Esther. Jen and Eric’s older daughter Theodora joined for the first half of the session, and then they tucked her in for a nap so Jen and Eric could get some portraits alone with their newborn baby. This is a balance that works really well for families with a newborn and an older sibling(s).

Their photoshoot felt so calm and cozy, highlighting the intimate connection Jen and Eric have with each other and with each of their daughters.
